We're possibly moving down to LV (we're in SLC now) and my husband would be working at the CSN Cheyenne Campus. We have two small children but still like to get out (bar/dancing) a few times a month. Parks, shopping, and safe neighborhoods are important to us.

We'd prefer to rent a house and spend no more than $1200 a month for 3+ bedrooms.

Thank you in advance!

PS, what are a few must have's in Vegas when looking for homes to rent (i.e. garage, AC, etc.)?

The generic advice in that corridor is west of I15 and north of Craig. For a little night life you might try for Aliante or Centennial Hills.

sorry to say but that is a ghetto area near that school. I'd live far away as possible from there

Drive 11 miles West on Cheyenne Ave from the CSN campus and you will be in a better safer area. This is the area West of Interstate 95 on Cheyenne. 11 miles and you are in the area of 89129, better location and convenient to anything you want nearby, parks, bars, shopping, hospitals, restaurants....

Communities between the Bruce Woodbury Beltway and Interstate 95 on Cheyenne are decent nice neighborhood.

Aliante

Decatur and 215 is where I'd start.

FYI

This is a well known fact, using Interstate 95 as your median guide, on Cheyenne Ave. the further East you go the worse it gets, meaning the area toward CSN Campus is not the best area while anything West of Interstate 95 on Cheyenne Ave is a better area. Goodluck looking around for homes.

While I agree with your assessment about avoiding the dodgy area West of Nellis, I used to bicycle to class from Sunrise. It was a nice, 40 min. bike ride each way. Hollywood to Washington to Lamb to Cheyenne to CSN. I did this three days a week, every week for a year. On those rare days when it looked like it might rain, it was 15 minutes by car. So there are more areas open than just Aliente.

PS -- I pedaled through some rather dodgy areas with this route. I'm not going to sugar-coat it. But I'm lucky in that nobody ever messes with me.

I used to go kayaking at Lake Mead for many years and taking my kayak from my family home in the NW side of town, Ill drive on Cheyenne heading East all the way to Nellis, head South on Nellis to Lake Mead Blvd, then heading East on Lake Mead Blvd all the way pass Hollywood to take the long route to Lake Mead for kayaking. Fun days and a long drive!!
