Good. I'd love to see much smaller bathtub rings out there.

Not to be negative, but note that it also said this:

Elevation & Content

Water Inflow Data

Hoover Dam Release Data

Lake Mead is 132.21 feet below Full Pool (Elevation 1219.60 )

By content, Lake Mead is 41.09% of Full Pool (25,877,000 af

I think there was a release from Lake Powell that brought our levels up about 8 feet. Typical balancing act. Still 132 feet to go.

Pray for above average snowfall in the Rockies for the next several years. That's what it will take to bring up the levels to full pool in both lakes.

The Intermountain West had an average (overall) snowfall/precipitation accumulation last Winter - and that's the water now hitting lake mead (via Powell). What we need are several more average years and lake mead will have healthy levels.

I've always heard it would take at least seven ABOVE average years to get back to normal, but that was back when it wasn't all that low. The level of the lake should be 1219 feet above sea level. It's got a long way to go to reach that.

The year the dam almost overflowed was because they made a mistake in calculating when to do a release from Lake Powell. They waited too long, and I believe they came close to bursting both dams, but don't quote me on that.

What about them? We've lowered those too. At one time we were banking water under ground, but don't know if we drained our bank account or what. I think they lowering might have been a matter of just cutting off the supply to keep them full. Before any of us were born this place had water all over from artesian wells. Even into the 80s we still had springs flowing, but I don't think any reach the surface now. Maybe in Flamingo Wash a little bit.
