Hiya.

We are finally on our way from Australia to Las Vegas, with our POE in Honolulu (significantly easier and quicker to get through customs than LAX).

We have a 10 hour layover (our choice), so when we are there I want to connect my cell phone.

After a bit of research I think I will connect with Cricket prepaid, and am wondering if I do this in Hawaii will I be able to get a 702 number, or should I just wait until we arrive in Las Vegas?

I can't speak for Cricket but you can pick any area code you want with Pure Talk, should you be open to other options

702 area code is virtually depleted. You will probably end up getting 725.

Use Google voice, you can get a 702 number and direct it to any number you want. Totally free.

I haven't found a way to get around the "The Google Voice subscriber is being located" message, so won't use them. I find it annoying.

I only use it to forward all calls to a different number and have never heard that message. Just tested it now and it rang straight through.

Probably depends on how it's set up. If you're just forwarding all calls to a single number, it would probably ring straight through. If you've set up any kind of hunt group, it may take a while to find which number you're at, in which case google would probably play a 'please wait' message.

Yep, that is the way to do it.

702 numbers can be hard to come by on Google Voice, though. You have to keep checking in hopes that someone releases theirs.

Just caught this thread and as I'm moving to Vegas in two months, I checked out Google Voice. They have many pages of 702 numbers right now. Appreciate all the input in this thread! Don't have to worry about getting a new cell number immediately, if ever.

Good! Last time I checked (awhile ago) there were ZERO 702 numbers!
