I have a question, about tv reception in Vegas and apartments.

So I'm reading about the issues with OTA reception in Vegas and was thinking of getting an outdoor antenna when I get settled here.

Part of my question is, most of the buildings appear to be stucco, so I was thinking of just putting an antenna on a pole in the corner of the patio or deck, pointing toward black mountain where all the stations seem to be.

A couple of apartments have that closet for the washer and dryer outside and was also thinking of hiding the antenna in there. I also would like to hook it up to my stereo if needed too.

Do you guys think that would work well enough to get the major local channels in the area? Is there something I'm missing?

Please enlighten me.

Do and experiment. Buy a cheap indoor directional antenna, and a long wire for it. take it to where you want to put your outdoor antenna, and point it toward Black Mountain. See if you get good reception. If you do, you're good to go.

Do you have a direct line of sight to the TV station antennas?

Go to antennaweb.org. Enter your zip code or street address and it will show you which OTA channels you can get, which antenna you need and where to point it.
