How about a $550-650 electric bill? That is what several of my neighbors with the same size house are dealing with for their June bill. My bill was $125.

If you can't be bothered to program a thermostat then it isn't for you. Small investment of your time for the return.

Oh yeah. If I didn't have people home between 1 and 7, I'd be on time of use already. I have a programmable thermostat now, but it's crappy. Going to get a wifi thermostat so I can control it from my pc or phone.

I'm on time of use option B which only requires participation during july and august from 2pm to 7pm. The rest of the time I'm on the Winter Rate. The basic service charge is increased from $12 a month to $32 a month. My June bill was $172 for running two 3 ton units at 72F from 7 pm to 2 pm. I manually turn on and off the AC units. The house temperature at 7pm is about 76F to 79F

And your /KwH rate during peak is 51 cents vs 37 for Option A

Yep. That's why I manually turn off the AC units. Not taking any chances with a programmable thermostat. I figure that the extra hour of cooling and only two months of summer rates is a better deal for me. It was nice keeping the house at 72F for the month of June, especially considering how hot it was.

Have to wait until the July bill comes in to see if I will need to further reduce electricity consumption from 2pm to 7pm.

^ Thanks! We would be better off staying on option A, as we do cheat from time to time, usually the last hour of the peak if it's really hot and we're home.

That's pretty good. How cold is your house at 2pm when you cut off the AC to make it so it only rises to 76-79 by 7pm?
