It is being reported that Starwood Capital Group has purchased the Mirage from MGM Resorts International.

MGM has been investing more money into their South Strip properties, including the just announced major theater renovation at the Monte Carlo. They also are investing in more properties outside of Las Vegas including the possibility of a major project in the Southeast US.

wowsers - you would think they would offload the crappier casinos first, like circus circus.

Have to find a buyer. Plenty of demand for Mirage, just about none for Circus Circus other than guys like Icahn willing to run it into the ground. I could see them selling the southern end properties too.

Smart to do it now, with the Caesars mess no one knows if there might be multiple Strip properties suddenly on the market.
