Didn't the Neonopolis have a movie theater at one point? I don't see a movie theater succeeding in this area. Most people that work in the area don't live in the area.

Lots of negativity towards a new project in Las Vegas - par for the course.

Downtown revitalization is going to work like this:

Amenity #1
Condo/Apartment Development #1
Amenity #2
Condo/Apartment Development #2
Amenity #3
Condo/Apartment Development #3
Etc.

You aren't going to get 20 different amenities before you get any kind of housing development... And you aren't going to get 15 apartment and condo high rises without some amenities being there.

It will progress back and fourth for a long time.

We already have a 22-story condo tower slated to go up north of the Stratosphere.

Yeah - it really is one of those "chicken v egg" kind of things. Downtown has a small grocery store but needs a real supermarket. But, there's not the population there right now to support one. Bring in enough residents - and there will be enough people. The risk takers will make the first big moves.

Boring. There is a secret movie theater in NYC that operates out of an abandoned Subway station where they show movies and serve drinks.

You enter via a manhole cover and invitation only as technically it is illegal

They did, and it was doing okay until the landlord got indebted to either a contractor or NV Energy ( I forget ) and the AC was cut off to the theater for weeks. Serious deal breaker.

Movie theater plans to become Downtown Las Vegas' upscale neighbor | Las Vegas Review-Journal

"Each of the theater's eight screening rooms will have 50-90 large, extra-padded seats. The second floor will include a restaurant with a chef-inspired menu including alcohol. The third level will be reserved for VIPs and events.

There will be two types of theaters for guests: regular and premier. The latter will include wait service and full meals delivered to one's reclining seat for $19."

Cool. When are you taking me? ( just kidding)

Sign me up too! We could plan a LV C-D meetup there. That's weird about the parking though.

Originally set to open fall 2014, the nearly $21.1 million project was pushed back to fall 2015 and is now on its current schedule.

So when exactly is fall again in Las Vegas? I seem to recall the leaves didn't turn until November last year.

I know when the fall equinox is. That still feels like blazing hot summer here and is only about a month away. I suspect that's too fast for them to slap up an upscale movie theater downtown.

I guess my real question is that if they're projecting Fall 2015 for the theater to open then when in Fall will that be so we can all go for a C-D meetup together there.

I'm guessing at the latest Nov. when the leaves turn colors here and it starts to get colder and to give construction some time. I guess it could be late fall even as the winter equinox is Dec. 21st.
