Anyone know a meat market in town where I would find this? Wife needs it for something.

Thanks.

village meat and wine. or costco. At both you may need to ask for it specifically and it may take a day or two for it be delivered.

I buy my pork picnic at Smiths, I think Winco carries them too. Is she making Pernil?

Although I'm not 100% sure, I want to say the pork shoulder(s) I picked up at Smart & Final had the skin on. I've made a couple in my slow cooker & recall a lot of fat juices along with a big flap of skin that needed to be trimmed/removed. Added bonus was they were on sale for 89 cents/lb & AMEX had their rebate deal going at the time, so they effectively cost me less than 50 cents/lb. Bonus!

My pork shoulder was great, but if you want assurance of top quality I'd say maybe Costco. Their butcher & meats always seem to be top-notch.

What is she making please? Pork Picnic shoulders have been 98¢ a pound for a couple of months where I live on the East Coast.

How about we just answer the question?

Skin on isn't happening anywhere other than at the butcher. You need to find a company which breaks down whole pigs. Or buy a whole pig, butcher it, keep the shoulder and have a roast with the rest.

RC Farms sells whole pigs. SysCo does, too -- if you're in the industry. I'd try to make nice with an Asian or Latino market meat department. A Filipino market should get it as to why you want pig with skin.

I am not sure about Las Vegas but here they are selling them skin on for 98¢ a pound and they are wrapped in plastic bags with a company name on it. They sell them in the grocery stores. I can check the name when I get home tonight.

The skin part is very tough and I have been having a hard time cooking them right. Right under the skin is a lot of fat.

Together the skin and fat look a lot like pork belly sitting on top of a pork roast.

Marketon, Cardenas, and El Super often have them. Cheap too!
