First, it's not about gambling revenue. It's about total revenue. Money is money.

Second, in the middle of the decade in question lives the biggest economic contraction since the Great Depression. This was going to make a big dent in any business plan.

If we take the beginning of the modern era in Vegas as the opening of The Mirage (the first casino built under the current business model), why don't you look at total revenue growth for the decade before it opened to the decade after.

I don't think anyone is arguing against that. The argument is which is a more effective way to make money.

Anyone who cannot see this is living in the early 1960s. Not a bad spot, for those in the entitled segment of society.

They do a great job of this, its in something called the Gaming Abstract and it just came out. It breaks it down by region and type of casino, but groups them together in sets of casinos so nothing proprietary from just a property or two gets revealed.

In it people would see just how bad the debt situation is. The biggest Strip casinos "lost" 3.8% of their revenues after expenses. However 11.7% of revenue was spent towards debt. So if they just didn't count debt they would be about 8% margin on revenue. Add in 10% of depreciation expense which is just accounting at the end of the day and you find Strip properties were making at least 16% before these charges.

I have also noticed younger people only seem to want to party or go clubbing... Doesn't seem like much else concerns them...
