I visited some years ago. They were having trouble selling them. and the place seemed deserted. Some of the buildings looked nice and having a big lake next door had to be a good idea.

There is a long thread on this. Use the search function, and go to the lat two pages of the thread for an update.

I used to play golf out there at Reflection Bay and the Falls Golf Course. The village was nice and the little casino wasn't too bad. When the economy went south, so did Lake Las Vegas. Both of those courses closed as did the casino.

Now, it looks like the place is trying to make a comeback. Reflection Bay has opened again. I don't think they have a casino yet and there is one hotel. It's really a pretty nice place if you don't mind living that far out. It doesn't seem like the kind of place that will ever get many tourists, though.

In all fairness, that thread is from 5 years ago. Not trying to be snarky, but is there a problem with discussing what's happening out there now?

That's the whole history. The last post on the second thread is from 4/8 (and, somewhat strangely, mine)

If you want to really know what's going on with LLV, you probably want to skim through the history.

Agree 100%, the thread explains it all. Aside from RB re-opening, it's a ghost town.

I understand both sides on this issue. I think when there is an old thread however people are likely to miss it ( unless they are searching back) Even when I see an old thread I may not use it.

On the other hand - old threads are good for history. I'll take a look.

There are 2 hotels, not 1. The casino is closed, and the shopping area is, for the most part, shuttered, save a few places here and there. It is one of my favorite places to go, as you're almost guaranteed seclusion. It's a nice escape from the hectic valley.

The downfall, I believe, is in the marketing. Get rid of the "Las Vegas" part of the name, and rebrand as a resort destination. I've run into numerous conference attendees who are shocked, as they thought the conference was in Las Vegas, not a $70 cab ride to the strip each way. Palm Springs doesn't market itself as "Los Angeles Springs", as it's out in the middle of nowhere, similar to how LLV is geographically secluded. If they made a run at marketing themselves as a destination, not piggy backing on the Las Vegas name, I think it would be successful in attracting more tourists and businesses.

Maybe Yucaipa could market itself as "Los Angeles Springs" and add some waterfalls to their fishing lagoons ..........................
