Australia. They have the things I want. The have minimum incomes sufficient to sustain life. They have universal healthcare.
They have good car insurance that is tied to the license plates so there's no bs 10k coverage. There's plenty of work in my fields. I could live by the ocean and watch people being eaten by sharks from my window.
There's not really any Americans there. That's the big plus. They have better education and help you go to college without putting you in debt. You can get all the cool Japanese cars America doesn't allow. The Holden Commodore. Utes. And the locals love to do stupid stuff with cars like burnouts and drag race.

There's 10 times less people which means there's at least 10 times less stupidity.

Cons
Spiders.
No small boobs allowed in porn.
Spiders.
All the animals are venomous.
Spiders.
Australian accents.
Spiders.
Spiders.
Australian slang.
And spiders.

Lake Tahoe on the Nevada side. But since I can't afford that, Carson City or one of the towns to the south of it maybe.

If we're talking about having lots of money I might move to Carmel by da Sea. Or at least have a second home there. But I think the OP isn't rich and is serious about it.

I've often thought about going back to my home town, but I was just there and realized you really can't go home again. There is just no place east of the Rockies that I could live now that I'm spoiled.

We sort of found a college town in Calif that looks interesting: San Luis Obispo. But I bet it's expensive.

Pretty much this. Although if you are older these places probably aren't as appealing, Portland and Denver are sort of becoming the Logan's Run of American cities.

Nevada and particularly Vegas is an interesting place. Anyone having spent any time here as a resident seems to never let go...I know many retirees (myself included) that counted the days until they could exit...most did and slowly over time for either health insurance, family or whatever often, not always migrate back.

I have found that this place is easiet taken in small doses, and for anyone having the leisure of coming and going at will..it makes it more tolerable.

Any place can be considered better or worse, however I have learned that much is controlled by preconceived notion and state of mind !

If I were to actually severe ties entirely I would return to our family's homeland...Ireland...good, bad or indifferent.

Southeast. Close to the Atlantic, but far enough in that hurricanes aren't a major concern. The other contender for our retirement was Sun City Hilton Head. If I could breathe in high humidity that's where we would be now instead of here.

Oh, and green, and rain, and flowers, and the smell of mown grass, and...
