Anyone had a recent appraisal done, how did it compare to the Zillow estimated price?

I know that Zillow was awful a few years ago, but I believe their estimates are much better these days. I just don't have any data or anecdotal evidence.

Appraisals can be complete garbage also. The real comparison would be Zestimates prior to actual sales.

my house shows 309k on Zillow... over 500k on other sites... lol

I think Zillow is a little low... homes without pools and smaller in my development have been selling for around 325.

Thanks for the info.... I think Zillow is pretty close in my neighborhood, but would like some more data points.

I use Zillow, Trulia, Realtor and Redfin. Divide by 4. I figure that's as close as I'm going to get.

Range I found today.

330,629 Zillow
315,077 Redfin
339,600 Realtor
330,329 Trulia

They have the house we rent listed incorrectly.

They have it as gas heat and the house is ALL electric.

Stove dryer everything

Very strange for a buy from the midwest.

I'd leave it there... in my opinion gas heat trumps all electric every time.

From my understanding Zillow gets it's data from Realtor/NAR. So most likely a real estate agent at some point entered in the wrong information in the MLS

When I refi'd my house I was told Zillow was a tad high. For some reason at that time Zillow changed my 3 bath home to a 1 bath. Despite that ever since the refi our house has shown higher on Zillow so they have to be taking that (refi value) into account. For the entire 16 years I have been in my house the house next door has shown the lowest value in our neighborhood and I cant understand why. Zillow values are a mystery to me. The guy on my other side just bought his house a little over a year ago, since then his home value has never gone up while mine continues to rise every couple of weeks.

Forgot to answer the question! I was told Zillow was high BEFORE the house was appraised. We actually got probably 20 thousand more than Zillow showed at that time, but our Zillow estimated worth went up to the loan amount right away and has continued to rise since. The refi was in Feb 2017.
