Watching the local news on KSNV-DT (NBC) I hear two different reporters stating that the terror Level Threat is SEAR 1 for NYE in Las Vegas, which is the highest possible level

Not only do I not believe the current terror Level Threat is the highest possible, I cannot find any information on WTH SEAR=1 means

Can anyone shed some light?

Ah I see it's the terror level threat under the special events protocol, by no means is it the highest terror level possible

I assume there are non-strip located locals-cetric NYE events around the valley. I live in Manhattan, and haven't gone to Times Square for NYE in 20+ years.

The strip isn't crowded on NYE as as long as you stay away from the Flamingo intersection. I hung between TI and Mirage and it was fine. This is just the usual reaction to the car attack in NY and Sniper attack from Mandalay Bay. I am going again it's the best time on NYE and sure beats frostbite people will be getting in NY.

Both of you are correct according to the lcoal news. They said we've been at this 'stage' since after the 91 shoootings.

What is good is they bring in all kinds of precautions, paid for by the feds.

The city government works with the CIA to create all the terror. Stop feeding this.

We'll be down on Freemont and never once did I think there would be any kind of terror problem. Even if there was we would go anyway. We want to celebrate and have some fun. Terrorists be damned.
