We have examined every possible city in the country and many around the world. We keep coming back to LV. Reasonable prices, good weather, lots to do. We looked at some homes in Summerlin, during our last visit, and really liked them with the Red Rocks right behind them. Beautiful! Won't be until 2022 but the countdown is on and we are excited! Actually might buy our house before then and start spending more vacation time there. Will be an early'ish retirement as we will be early/mid 50's and looking forward to getting involved with the community. Why move? Have been in the current city 30 years and it's time for something new.

Good luck, I am planning the same thing for my retirement, all for the exact reasons you noted. And also targeting 2022 at the latest but might be able to by the end of next year. I already bought my retirement home in Henderson (currently rented out). Very excited, I have spent lots of time in Vegas since the 80's so it's always been a 2nd home to me. The summers are hot, but as they say you don't need to shovel sun

I'd suggest you spend a weekend here in each of June, July, August and September, just so there are no weather-related surprises once you fully retire.

Aside from that caveat, this is a great place to be retired.

My Parents moved here from New Mexico after they retired. They purchased in the Retirement community of Siena in Summerlin. They have been very happy there. There are lots of activities, and the social engagements helped make their relocation very easy.

Best of Luck, my parents are very happy here.

Hi, welcome to Summerlin. Summerlin is a spectacular community that my family and I have called home for over 20 years. There is nothing like having Red Rock Canyon at your doorstep. I would never live anywhere else.

Be sure to check out the 55+ communities, as you don't want a garage band living next door. My cousins had that down the street.

Are you asking for advice OP? This thread is more like a statement.

I would wait until you're actually ready to pull the trigger on retiring to actually buy a property. Vegas seems to be in transition, and in a way that makes it less desirable as a retirement destination. If you're target date is somewhere in 2022, I'd reexamine you potential destinations in late 2021, and see how they are working at that point.

I would agree 100%.
