I have been reading all of these jobs threads and from what I see it sounds like it is very difficult to find a job in the Las Vegas/Henderson area is that really true. Really how hard is it to just find adminstrative work in the Henderson area, I will be moving out there next month. Any ideas what the starting pay might be.

Ignore the trolls.

The thing is - the economy is bad everywhere right now. But Las Vegas isn't any worse off than any other city. In fact, I'd say that we're better off because of all the new casinos opening, plus the city center. There are also plenty of businesses off the strip. You should be able to find something.

Not sure about salaries.

Administrative job? Not unless your punctuation, spelling, and grammar skills improve. I apologize if English is not your basic language, but maybe you should try for another type of work until you can get more English language schooling.

They say Las Vegas school system is rated 48th in the nation, word is "the worst thing about having a bunch of young idiots is they grow up and run the city". Judging from the last two (rude) posts, I guess it's safe to say I found a few.

Well you fit in a way.

There are no published reports that the Las Vegas school system is rated 48th. So you have demonstrated that you don't read very well or write very well or both.

I don't believe either of the posters was educated in Las Vegas. I was not.

Now try listening to the message. If you wish an administrative position you should display a reasonable mastery of English.

I stand corrected, I meant Nevada

Grammar and English has never been my strong point, that hasn't stop me from coming to las vegas and pulling six figures(thank god for numbers and formulas). My problem is with the two rude posters who instead of giving info or advise, made the OP feel like $hit. I'm sure you didn't have a problem with that right? I guess they were fitting right in with the crowd lol

btw; I've seen a lot worst land a admin. job, I'm sure you know that.

I still do not get where all the people that move here think that Las Vegas has jobs growing on trees. There are jobs, but are you qualified? or do you know someone? I've seen people get jobs very quickly, and I've seen people transfer with jobs already. I hear of all the people with no luck for months, but isn't this true in any city you would go to? Can someone here name a city where you can move there with a skill set that doesn't fit the city and get a job right away? Every situation is different. You cant generalize on this subject in my opinion.

Again, I would advise people who want to move here: Please have money in the bank, get a local phone#, a good resume, and if your smart, land a job first or have one lined up would be best.

Don't you mean that you've seen a lot worse -- not worst -- land an admin job, not a admin job?

I have spent many years helping people find jobs. I and my colleagues have to be brutally honest with them if you want to help them. Dancing around trying to ignore the elephant in the room helps no one. Administrative jobs require, as olecapt said, a mastery of English. After all, if they said they were looking for a cab driving job but had no driver license, wouldn't you point out the obvious? If you are a hiring authority yourself, which you didn't say you were, and you don't know good grammar, then you might end up hiring someone that will make your company a laughing stock with some of your potential customers. In your case you would at least need someone that can make you look good by catching your errors, not someone who is going to make you look like an idiot. If you were to hire the OP yourself in an administrative position it would hurt your company. But since I don't know if English is the OP's second language, telling them to improve it for the type of work they are looking for is the right thing to do. Since you must have wasted your free education, I suspect that it makes you a little sensitive. But then it was never any of your business in the first place. I may not be the brightest bulb on the tree either, but I know to use my spell checker.
