We recently moved to the Henderson area from out of state and called to set up our utilities, cable, internet etc.

Cox and Dish ran my credit, so no deposit required. SW Gas required a letter of credit, so no deposit. Nevada Power after 6 phone calls finally let us know that they will take a letter of credit, so the deposit was finally waved.

City of Henderson water told us they do not run credit, will not take a letter of credit or anything else.

Is this correct? Our monthly bill is $30, but the deposit is $150. Are they required to accept a letter of credit? I wouldn't ask, but it took Nevada Power 6 calls with the last one going through a manager to find out that they accept a letter. If I do have to pay the deposit are they required to pay me the interest on the amount when I finally get it back?

I don't think they are 'required' to accept a LOC but I DO believe that they do have to pay interest and they return[or credit] the dep + interest after 1 yr.
