Vegas wins big with NASCAR weekend

NASCAR weekend has wrapped up as Kyle Busch came from the rear to take the checkered flag in his home town.
And he isn't the only one celebrating in victory lane - Las Vegas is a winner as well. News 3's Anita Roman reports that hundreds of thousands of NASCAR fans showed up for all the action at the race track and helped boost the local economy in a big way.

Note of interest for NASCAR fans ...

Our local track has a terrific tour and it is well priced ...

Show up at the gift shop and you can have a complete tour of all of the racing facilities including a sky box tour and a spin around the actual big track in their van. When we did it last September. The price was $6 each. Its available when there is no racing happening. For a real fan its very cool. You might wanna call ahead to check the current price and time of day available.

Hey MOM2. It had to be a big success. I was just a little off strip monday afternoon. The whole town is filled with raccoons. You know...thirthy or fortiesh people with red faces outlining their shades. There were hundreds, maybe thousands.

You would think the turkey tourists would learn.

Hey Kimba guess who was the chief Raccoon?

Even if you don't like NASCAR everyone should just go once. The people watching alone makes it worth the price of admission!

You aren't kidding about the people watching. i was out there Sat. selling drinks and I couldn't get over how some people chose to dress to come to the race. I also couldn't get over how many people ordered Crown and Coke and how early they started drinking it And then there were the ones doing shots of Jagermeister

Yep, that would be my husband! He was pretty excited about getting tickets for both races from his boss! And he doesn't do sun very well! Said he applied sunscreen, but I told him he is supposed to keep reapplying it. He wasn't aware of that as he usually just runs from shade spot to shade spot!

Yeah, it seemed like there was even more traffic than usual this past weekend...all over town.

That's quite a huge crowd, bigger than New Year's Eve...

NASCAR IS a huge event and yes, it's bigger then NY's and usually at a higher rate, altho it seems to affect downtown more then the strip.....this year was a little later booking....and at considerably lower rate then previous years butcha do whatcha gotta do.
