Yes and no. VPL (the subject of the OP) is no more, but Nevada Poker League is alive and well.
Nevada Poker League - Come Play Poker Have Fun and Meet New Friends
VPL tended to cater to the younger crowd. Most of the people I've seen at NPL are older. I haven't been to a NPL game in a couple of years, so YMMV.

again... this is INTRA state. software has been approved, licenses have been approved and teh money exchanges have been approved.
what remains to be seen is... will these ONLINE gaming systems be IN CASINO systems where you play against other players intrastate, or will they run from home?????
