Hello, I will be moving to Las Vegas this summer and will be living in my car while I look for an apartment and a job. No, you don't need to tell me that Vegas is probably 2nd only to Baghdad in the worst places in the world to live in a car. But what about the desert? Couldn't I find a nice secluded place out there, park up, and fall asleep? Or are there all sorts of wild critters and vagrants roaming the desert looking for desert hobos to rob?

You'd cook.

Find a motel with weekly rates. You'll also need an actual address when job hunting.

not to worry, this hobo is built for extreme temperatures. also, you can use a private mailbox and substitute # for PMB when job hunting.

I will simply tell the fine gentlemen of law enforcement that I am simply camping for a day or two, living the fine desert life.

Unauthorized camping on BLM land carries a hefty fine. Just pitch a tent at KOA for $8 a day.

Dare I say it? Just find a few of the thousands of empty foreclosed houses and camp out in the backyard - move around so you don't stay at the same one for more than one night at a time. Don't make a nuisance or draw attention to yourself - arrive after dark, leave before dawn. There are plenty of websites out there with lists of such houses and their addresses like realtor.com, zillow.com, etc.

If you got a magnetic sign for your car that said something like "foreclosure clean-out specialists" you could probably even park at a lot of these houses during the day.
