i think this is overstated

Las Vegas has all of those except hurricanes, and maybe ice storms

Nevada is the second most seismically active state after California. And Developers in Las Vegas have gotten complacent, if they haven't always.

A 6.0 earthquake on the Frenchman Mountain fault would be enough to pretty much level the entire city of Las Vegas

Sorry to be negative but I thought that post was overstated

that's actually happening to my husband right now. submitted resumes to several employers as soon as we got here, didn't get a job 'til 5 months later. now he's getting calls for openings. weird.

twas my pleasure. vegas isn't for everyone, as with every place, but it sure has a lot to offer.
It might be hot but it is a "dry heat" and is actually more comfortable in my opinion than Dallas or Houston are in July as long as you stay out of the direct sun as much as possible

Maybe but I have not heard of an earthquake there. I have heard 300+ days of beautiful sunshine and that is enough for me to like.

It hasnt happened yet as far as I know but it could. Like they say on the weather channel, it could happen tomorow!

300+ sunny days a year is phenomenal. Florida isnt really the sunshine state, Nevada is!

Florida is a wreck. Nice winters in south Florida but the state has a big sign on its ass that says "Hurricane Please Kick Me" and the summers are quite uncomfortable with like 90% humidity and bugs everywhere.

One good thing about having kids is there are always sports leagues going on, all year round. They are a little expensive, but there is always time to keep the kids going to activities. Henderson Multigenerational Center is a really nice place to take kids, a lot of programs geard towards younger ones. A cool family thing to do is go ice skating on Lake Las Vegas during the winter time...THere is also the Las Vegas Wranglers (ice hockey team), Las Vegas 51s (baseball) and the new indoor racing track-the name escapes me right now....Of course the weather, being from Ohio we loved it no matter how hot it got; to be able to swim outside for our christmas card was great....We also love it that most places you can go 5 min in any direction and be at tons of stores...In Ohio we had to drive out to the crossroads to meet the pizza delivery guy

mod cut:

A magnitude 6.0 earthquake is 10x smaller than a magnitude 7.0, and would cause moderate damage but not "level the entire city of Las Vegas". Even a 7.0 wouldn't do that, and I lived through the 7.0 Loma Prieta earthquake, and at the moment am posting from inside one of the millions of homes in the Bay Area that managed to survive that earthquake with no damage.

That fault isn't active anyway.
