Yes, just for parking cars.

When I moved to Vegas in 1994, I met a guy who was a valet at the Gold Coast, which wasn't exactly the "high end" of hotels, and he was making over $50k/year back then. When the Monte Carlo was opening up, he called me seeing if I was interested in becoming a valet there, as he was making the move because he knew the new valet captain there. It seems that to get the job there, you had to "bid" on it, by offering the valet captain "X" days of tips in return for the job- the guy who bid the highest got the job. My buddy ended up giving up over three weeks of tips to get the job there, but he was also making around $70k/year.

Not bad for "parking cars", huh? lol

Bob

Yeah...it is one of those jobs. Requires no skill other than reasonable coordination and pretty good shape. High level contacts can help as can being in the trade and moving up with people you know over the years. The "tip" is really not huge when you think about it. In comparison to the income stream from the job the front end investment is quite small.

Same kind of deal as dealers and wait staff. Start at smaller less desirable locations and work your way up to the front lines on the strip.

No you don't. You need good english for these jobs. There are hispanics but in less than proportion to the presence in the population.

Just as a matter of encouragement.. My daughter just graduated from high school and spent maybe 7 or 8 hours looking for a job. She had one specific area she wanted to be in so she didn't go too far and landed a job at a furniture store making $9.50/hour. It's not a mint, but it's a nice start and her hours are flexible enough that she could easily fit school in too.

Ya know, I'm not sure a kid right out of high school can get a job parking cars. You may need to be a little older and more experienced. Try it though. Another area you might try is pool attendant. they make good tips too, get to see lots of bikini babes, and have fun while working on the tan.
