Or should that be free beer and a free lunch?! Hey, gotta keep those priorities straight!

Went to the Crown & Anchor Pub for lunch yesterday. What a sweet deal that is!! If you put $20 in a video poker/BJ machine, you get a free meal and a free Guinness (or whatever your preference happens to be). An entree, drink, plus tax would cost about $18-$20 anyway, so worst case scenario if you blow the entire $20 gambling is that you end up paying what the meal would have cost without the gambling. And it would be almost impossible to lose the entire $20 in a short period of time if you employ basic strategy while playing BJ.

My wife and I put in a total of $40 ($20/each) and we cashed out for $41. So not only did we eat and drink for free, but the pub paid us a buck to do so! (Of course, I did end up tipping the bartender/waitress a little more than 20% of what the meal would have cost.)

After lunch, we drove over to the Macy's Home Store just down the street on Spring Mountain to pick up some bedding for our guest bedroom. After that, we stopped at the Orleans on the way home and had a couple of 99 cent margaritas at Don Miguels. That is a happy hour special from 3-5, Wed-Sun.

Is this a great city, or what!

Hey thanks for letting me know that. I looked it up, and it is at 1350 E Tropicana. I can literally walk there in 5 minutes from my condo. Can I ask was the food good?

It certainly isn't gourmet dining, but you wouldn't expect that there. It was, however, IMO, very good pub food.

As for the location, I did not go to the original Crown & Anchor on E. Trop. I went to their second location, aka Little Crown & Anchor, on Spring Mountain @ Decatur since it is closer to where I live. However, I will definitely check out the one on Trop as well.
