Hello!

I was naturalized on 06/2006. Shortly, I will be moving to Ukraine and reside there permanently. Will I risk loosing my US Citizenship? I have many relatives in the US and would like to retain my US Citizenship for lifetime. I do not plan to acquire any additional citizenships. I am citizen of Ukraine by birth. I know I should probably file US taxes annually to show that I respect Uncle Sam. Any suggestions? Anything I need to do? Thank you so much!!!!!!

The reason I asked is because I heard that naturalized citizen must reside in the United States for 5 years before s/he can move to another country permanently. Otherwise, citizenship might be in danger.

Why don't you just wait til you get your US citizenship before you move to Ukraine? Because you're right, there is a continuous physical presence requirement of 5 years before you can become a citizen, but you may be able to waive it. I think it depends on the circumstances under which you obtained your green card. Also, if you happen to be working for the US gov't when you move to Ukraine you may be able to waive the requirement. But it's a tough call, and the best way is to just stay in the US until you become a citizen. 5 years is not a long time if you want to remain a US citizen the rest of your life. Here's a link with some info:

USCIS - Continuous Residence and Physical Presence Requirements for Naturalization

Before you make such a big decision, you should really contact an immigration attorney to see what your options are. Getting LPR in the US is no walk in the park and you don't want to lose it if you don't have to.

Please read my question carefully: I am already a US Citizen.

Sorry! One of those days. If you are really planning to reside permanently in Ukraine, why is the risk of losing your US citizenship significant?

Either way I don't think you will unless you specifically renounce US citizenship. It seems that if you can find a way to stay legally in Ukraine, you wouldn't automatically lose your US citizenship unless you became re-naturalized in Ukraine or were not able to renew your passport while living abroad. I don't USCIS makes a distinction between natural-born citizens and naturalized citizens to this extent, but I could be wrong.

No you will not use lose your citizenship.
You have to be in the US for a certain amount of time usually to be naturalised and you do not lose that, knor do you have to stay for 5 years after.
