Short summary from Morning Call article
Number of homicides in the last four years in the Lehigh Valley's three cities:

BETHLEHEM
2012: 2
2011: 2
2010: 0
2009: 1

EASTON
2012: 5
2011: 1
2010: 3
2009: 1

ALLENTOWN
2012: 15
2011: 10
2010: 9
2009: 13

Easton witnessed five homicides in 2012, a number not seen since 2007 and the highest on record for the city in the past decade. While 2012 tied 2007 with five homicides, the violence was different. In 2007, three of the murders occurred in one crime — the triple slaying of Alphe Rene, Chanel Armour, and Aleah Hamlin in a West Ward apartment. That was a gang-related retaliation for slayings in New Jersey, prosecutors said during trials that convicted the killers. Easton's 2012 victims — Paul Murray, Ervin Holton, Matthew Kelly, Lawrence Gaines and George Jeter — were killed in separate crimes and police believe the drug trade played a role in each death.

Two homicides were committed in Bethlehem, far fewer than the six recorded in 2007 and 2006, the highest on record in the past decade, according to crime statistics compiled by state police. Though the number was low, the Dec. 2 shooting death of Yolanda Morales as she left the Puerto Rican Beneficial Society on a busy block in south Bethlehem shook the region as three shooters emptied two handguns — expending at least 30 rounds — and wounded five people.

Allentown recorded 15 homicides, less than any year between 2005 and 2008, when Allentown saw between 16 and 21 homicides each year.
