Lehigh County Coronor Scott Grim identified the victime as Rocco Marinaro, 57. He said Marinaro died due to a gunshot wound to the body. The manner of death is homicide, he said. Marinaro was discovered lying face down inside an enclosed porch in the 1900 block of Allen Street.

While a murder in Allentown occurs 10-20 times per year, this is the first one I've ever heard of in the 18104 zip code (west of 17th street).

It's one. Even good areas have an occasional murder. They have a had two in south Whitehall in recent years.

Generally, you are still stafe in the west end.

I know that murders happen everywhere. They are still investigating the Holly Branagan murder.

Since this murder seems to be of the drive-by gang style shooting, I just call attention to the case, in order for people to be aware of a break in the trend.
