right now working and living in lehigh valley, if I take a job and move to west chester, how much cost of living am I expecting?

trying to think if it worth it. I mean the salary may be up by like 10%. I know west chester is more expensive than Lehigh valley definitely, just want to understand how much.

Housing is the main reason the West Chester area is more expensive. Check house and apartment prices online to get an idea. Some other things may be slightly more expensive, but we're talking nickels and dimes. I don't think it will eat up the whole 10% raise, but part of it.

You're comparing one town with a county. Even in West Chester there are different areas. I lived near West Chester for ten years. In fact, one of my kids was born there. The cost of living is similar to what we have in Southern Lehigh School district, but this (SL) is one of the most expensive places to live in Lehigh county. You should probably compare Chester County to Lehigh County.

I'm a west chester native who moved to Macungie about 5yrs ago.

West Chester is an incredible town, but housing prices are insane. However, apartment rents are reasonable (cheaper than Macungie somehow) and there are bars/restaurants that are better-quality for the same price, so going out is a better value. Speaking of going out, West Chester has a vibrant nightlife scene with attractive people and (gasp) laughter/enjoyment.

If you are considering buying a home in that area, I recommend Downingtown. West Chester if you're looking to have the "20-something" lifestyle.
