Allentown pools are awful. Even the "best" , Cedar Beach was closed for years due to maintenance issues and yes, still has glass problems (though the surrounding rose gardens are very nice). Short of having a pool in the complex, there are plenty of affordable, private swim clubs in the area (Stonecrest, Orchard View, Kaybrook).

Is it commonplace to see apartment complexes or communities with their own pool? Some I've seen have a community center, pool, and playground. I was hoping for something like that.

I found this by googling Allentown apartment complex with pool. https://www.apartments.com/allentown...0_y8i3H8npqpzO

We used to go to the Nazareth and Palmer Township community pools and both are great. They do get a little crowded on hot weekends, but you can always find an area to hang out in. Also, the food (was, not sure anymore) super cheap and good for kids.

We never went to the Cedar Beach pool, but the park was always nice and we never had any issues there.

So I've spent the last few weeks driving through and exploring multiple areas, some that were recommended here. I didn't love Trexler Park because it seems like it's right off major roads and I'm looking for something a bit more off the beaten path. We liked the Macungie area but seems a lot pricier. I know this is a Lehigh Valley thread so you probably aren't too familiar with the other 2 areas we liked, Malvern and Yardley, but those are also pretty pricey. Well, I obviously have expensive taste but is anyone here aware of an area that's a little more of a PA feel, like Yardley, good schools and community, but less expensive? Does this even exist? Any suggestions are appreciated as this is causing me a tremendous amount of stress. Thanks

Yardley and Malvern aren't in the Lehigh Valley, if you are fine with their general location, may want to post this in the Philly area forum too. To answer your question, hmm, maybe try Upper and Lower Saucon Townships?

Nothing in Upper Saucon. That's where I live. Editing - there is a nice community pool in Upper Saucon/Coopersburg/Center Valley, just not attached to an apartment complex, because there really aren't apartment complexes. https://www.solecopool.org/ A YMCA is coming in about 3 years.

Are you familiar with Breinigsville? The other two places I mentioned turned out to be way too expensive for me. Gosh this is tough!

IMO, the LV is expensive for what it is, same with parts of the Poconos (are growing more expensive given the current real estate market) Full disclosure, I live in the tail end of the Poconos - my husband actually works out of Breinigsville. We would chose to not live in the LV due to costs- we have pretty much the same house you find in the LV at probably 50% of the cost, more land and lower overall taxes. Other side of that, longer commutes for work, errands, etc.

Speaking as someone that explored the idea of teaching in PA, I have found it's not necessarily easy to find a SD that doesn't seemingly have a system of nepotism in place with hiring in the smaller SDs. Allentown actually made me an offer but it made more sense to continue in my current position/career (ie $$$).
