There appears to be a roundabout (?) at the intersection, with some signage. I'm really interested in the area just west of there, around something called St. Luke's garden. Does this area have a name? Is it sketchy? Safe? Thank you!

I would say both... a bit gritty, but safe enough.

The area is absolutely fine during the day, and after dark you'll be OK if you stick to main thoroughfares.

Just don't be tempted to wander off into an "estate" (="project")... while it's not the worst part of town, once you're out of sight, the chances of something happening go up sharply.

Usual city rules apply - don't flash your wealth around, don't make eye contact with thugs & crazies, you know how it goes right ?

We call project Schemes here in Scotland and the same applies, ..if your not from there or known.. its dangerous especially at nights, where I live in the East end of Glasgow has always had a bad reputation for violence..although the part I live in is lovely with good neighbours and no crime...
