I am traveling to London at the end of the year (from US) and wish to bring my mini-laptop and digital camera with me. I am staying at the Royal Horseguards Hotel. Do I need an adapter, converter, or both in order to plug in the laptop and camera battery charger? If so, any recommendations?
You will probably only need a converter so that you can plug into the British plugs. Most cameras and computers can handled both 110 and 220/240. You should confirm that you can handled both but I will be surprised if they can't.
I think most of my electrical equipment has been purchased in the US and I only use an international adaptor. You can pick them up pretty cheap at Best Buy, Target etc
Indeed, the UK plugs are different as you already know so you will need a converter with a fuse. They can be bought at the airport, hotel and the high street. When you arrive in the UK you can drop over any electric goods shop (maplin, currys, dixon, etc) or supermarket and purchase a converter.
Welcome to London and enjoy!
