You can call it what you want, but the purpose of it is to integrate the schools. One of my HS social studies teachers (at Huntington HS) told me that they were given the edict in the early 70s to start bussing kids. Don't call it bussing, I don't care. There was only one purpose for it. And it's why - even though I never moved - I went to 3 different elementary schools, and the schools were K-6 and then K-5 when I was a student there.

There's bussing and, then, there's busing.

Most school districts prohibit bussing while busing.

There can be busing across school district lines and busing across (previous) attendance zones within a school district.
