Given everything the same is a brick house worth more than frame in LI?
Brick is preferred because you can huff and puff, but it won't fall down.
Now, take a hurricane and a frame house and what do you have - lots of swirling siding and collapsed walls if the winds are strong enough. Besides, today's construction offers "pressed wood" as the framing of the walls. I personally like brick, but with a higher value of home, comes higher taxes........need I say more?
Yes. Anywhere. But you need to be careful of what type of facade was put up. Examples are full brick, half brick, or fake brick (multilevel mixes placed onto exterior to look like brick).
Although if you go to some of the more "quaint" areas of LI there arent alot of brick houses in Cold Spring harbor and oyster bay cove...and towns like those. They tend to go for the colonial look. I personally love the the hamptons style home, but thats alot of $$$.
