Hi,

I am moving to Long Island from NC in about 3 weeks and looking for a place to live. I looked at a place in Glen Cove and would love to hear feedback from anyone local to that area.

I will be working near Melville and want something that is going to be SAFE and yet cost efficient. I am moving from a 1200 sq ft house so need an apartment that is spacious. Everything I see online looks like it needs an update if its between $1000-$1500/mo. Am I crazy to think I can find something nice for about $1500?? Thanks!

Glen Cove is not too close to Melville. Try Lindenhurst, or West Babylon.

You can certainly get a spacious one bedroom in that price range. A 2 bedroom would be tough, the potentially possible at the high end of that price range (though wouldn't be spacious).

Glen Cove is probably a bit far since its so far north and you would need to travel a bit before you get to any highways. How long of a commute are you looking for?

I'd look in Babylon, Farmingdale and Huntington over Glen Cove. Glen Cove is NOT convenient to Melville.

Having just relocated from NY to NC, I think you are in for a surprise as to what you get for your money...no, what you get at all when it comes to apartments. Just keep that in mind because if you see something that doesn't measure up, it's not really going to get any better.

.
I second those suggestions! Of course if you could find a rental in Melville, you'd really have it made

I actually found three rentals with 2-BRs - as spacious as you're going to get LOL. One is a 2 BR cottage, so you'd have privacy.

BTW, "spacious" is subject to interpretation...
