The 70% School Tax / 30% County Tax Myth Debunked (Oyster Bay, Plainview: sales, house)

I just added up my gross receipts from last year in QuickBooks, here's what my totals looked like:
$5800 School Taxes w.star $5471 County Taxes
It's closer to 51%/49% when you factor in sales tax and other miscellaneous charges. I didn't include the taxes I pay on gasoline and other hidden county taxes/surcharges/fines that I'm sure that will push it to 50/50. So there you go, it's really 50%/50%.
where's the myth from? I'm looking at mynassauproperty and it states:
$6,943.03 school/library
$3,279.76 general
Not sure what you're counting as general taxes but here's my general tax breakdown:

I think the 70/30 rule is solely for property taxes. Our property taxes are probably closer to 80/20 including commercial property taxes. By the way, residents think they have it bad. My school taxes for commercial property went up 12% for 2011. Happy New Year!

Hey, I got an idea. How about a surcharge every time someone requests the NCPD services? This should reduce a lot of the BS calls they get. I heard they're doing this in the city with NYFD. The garbage men come here a lot. NCPD maybe once a decade for me.

That's 64/36 , about in-line with the rest of Nassau County.
Now add in county sales tax portion, county surcharges, fines and other fees being filtered into Nassau coffers and it will bring that ratio down to close to 50/50.
