I want to knock down a wall and create one big bedroom out of two. The wall is about 10' long. Any idea what a contracter will charge to take it down and finish the sheetrock and hardwood floor? I don't trust myself to do it correctly. Thanks

it depends...
it depends on whether the wall is structural, vs not.
it depends on whether there is plumbing in the wall, heating, ventilation.
it depends on how much electric is in a wall that needs to be relocated.

Depends on if the wall is structural or not. It it is holding up the roof/rooms above it there will be much more work than just "knocking it down"

It's not a load bearing wall, no plumbing, no vents, just one electric outlet on each side, and it's standard 8' in height.

$300 to rent a dumpster, $500 for demolition work, $2000 for labor and $200 for materials (i.e. sheetrock, paint, spackle, etc)

You forgot the hardwood floor. There will need to be a weave from one room to the next and then both floor refinished. If the flooring from these rooms runs into a hallway, the adjoining areas should be refinished, too.

Depending upon the age of the electrical, the lines which need to be moved might need to be brought to code. Lighting, ceiling fans, switches and outlets might need to be relocated to work with the room's new configuration.

Will a doorway from one of the rooms be eliminated?

Both rooms/new room will need to be painted.

New room trim...do both rooms currently match?

Material number is low. Electrical is going to be a consideration. Flooring estimate needs to be done.

If you are 100% sure the wall is a non-load bearing wall then I would try to do the majority of work yourself. You could always remove the wall and outlets yourself and then pay someone to come in and patch the ceilings and floor. There really isn't all that much to it. I would get into more detail but I don't want to be responsible if someone screws up their house or gets injured.
