I am right now in new Jersey. My husband works in Melville,Long Island,NY.We are thinking of relocating,so I have lot of Questions??.Which is the nearest Location that is fit for residing, commuting etc.?I also have a school going kid.Which district is good school district?.Considering apartments, can you suggest me good apartments near to school and my husband's work place.Any good advice is greatly appreciated.thanks in advance.
I have a friend who lives out there but she commutes into the city and has no kids. The taxes on the island are high but since you are renting, that wont impact you until you buy.

I live in Melville and am actually selling my home. Where I'm located, you would drive 2 1/2 miles to the Farmingdale train station which would be approx. 50 min. into Penn station. The school district is Half Hollow Hills schoold district #5 and is extremely good. You can check that out another time. But if you don't want to buy...you can check out Avalon Courts, which are 1,2, and 3 bedroom gorgeous rentals. Again, you would travel out of Farmingdale train station. Good luck
Massapequa School District is about 15 - 20 minutes south of Melville, and it is an excellent school district. It is also about one hour commute to Penn Station via the LIRR.
