I live in Setauket and have twin girls who are about four years old. Currently grandparents take care of them when they are not in the preschool. However, this may not last long so I have to think about how to find a live out nanny (either part time or full time). Have anyone used a good nanny agency which I can trust? Any advice is welcome. Thanks.

check out Babysitters, Nannies and Nanny Services - Sittercity Babysitting

You can interview as many candidates as you want.

Hope this helps.

also check out care.com, that's how my brother and his wife found their nanny. They live in Chicago and pay like $700.00 a week. It's very expensive but they have no choice because there isn't any family nearby to watch my nephew. If he lived here I would watch him.

we are considering an au pair because it's so hard if you have more than one kid, the person earning might as well stay home because it cost at least $1700 per month and that's on the cheap.

Costs are exhorbitant, true, but not everyone has a spare bedroom

You're absolutely correct and it's a hard decision. my wife complains she works to pay the nanny

I hear you loud and clear! My youngest daughter is working to pay daycare (19 months old twins and a four year old) ; but she doesn't want to lose the job she loves and waited years to get - plus the retirement benefits down the road.
Sad trade-off.

There is no set price. I have been told you get what you pay for. I know quite a few people and they all do it differently.
