Greetings, any insight on this neighborhood in GC would be appreciated. Proximity to town and train is obvious. Anything else one should know.
Cheers

Nice little neighborhood that even people who've lived in GC their whole lives may not always know about. Close to Meadow Street, but for some reason seems immune to the petty crime that happens over there.

I wouldn't say it's immune to petty crime, though it probably experiences less of it than Meadow Street does. It is nice and quiet and safe. Neighbors tend to be friendly. And the Mews are lovely, if you're looking in that vicinity.

It's a Hempstead border area. You could probably do better for your money in another town.

Hempstead is considered the most dangerous village/hamlet on Long Island, so yes it's a negative.

Yes. You can check with the GC police about the crime stats on that side of the village. I read a letter in the Garden City News that said crime on that side of town is up 17% from last year.

I understand that the crime rate was pushed up by a small number of burglaries. More burglaries isn't a good thing, of course, but even with that, there isn't a serious crime problem here.
