I'm just up the road from the beach, and the beach nuts are already out with their cruiser bikes not paying attention

Don't worry, this is probably summer's last gasp, you won't have to deal with that for at least the next 7 months or so...

the water tempature is probably pretty close to what you get in June so why not.

Exactly. I was glad I took the day today and went down even if it was only for a few hours.

I was only there from 11:00 until about 2:00 and was able to park on Shore Rd down near Neptune. There were probably 30 people between those two jetties when I got there and maybe 80 when I left. The water was like a lake with just small little waves rolling in with people surfing, kyaking or doing that stand up surfboard/paddle thing. I am sure it was much more crowded down near Edwards.
