Do you think some towns in Nassau have equivalents in Suffolk and vice versa?

Yes, I know every community is very unique and special but I think these communities have a number of traits in common with the other:

Plainview=Commack
Massapequa= West Islip
Island Park= Rocky Point
Rockville Centre= Babylon Village
Freeport= Bay Shore
Levittown= North Babylon
New Cassel= North Bellport
Old Westbury= Dix Hills
Roosevelt=Wyandanch
Woodbury= Hauppauge
East Garden City= East Farmingdale
Lawrence= Bellport (South)
Uniondale= North Amityville
Farmingdale= Deer Park
Manhasset= Huntington Village
Mineola= Copiague
Woodbury= Hauppauge
Oceanside= East Islip
West Hempstead= West Babylon
Sands Point= Lloyd Harbor

Any more?

(And yes, Walter, I know these are hamlets and villages: not towns! )

Sea Cliff = Northport

Old Brookville = Nissequogue

Old Westbury should be a little higher than Dix Hills, maybe Head of the Harbor

The massapequa=West Islip not sure if 100% correct. I mean is Massapequa all White? I know West Islip is or at least 90% of it is.

Yes, they have about the same racial demographics (minus East Massapequa east of Carmans which is very diverse). It's not 100% white but probably somewhat close (not that there's anything wrong with that).

I also put them as equivalents due to location. Both are coastal communities. Both have big malls nearby. Both have Sunrise Hwy, Montauk/Merrick rd and Southern State Pkwy running through them. Both have about the same avg. household incomes. etc, etc.

Manhasset = Huntington village does not sound right. Racial demographics, median income, school rankings etc are very different.

I think this is pretty accurate for the most part. Not sure on the Manhasset=HV one. I probably haven't seen enough of HV but that one might be off. And Mineola=Copiague is probably not the best comparison. IP=RP is interesting, wonder what Crooks thinks on that ... Sands Point could = maybe Sagaponack. How about Seaford = Lindenhurst. Or Levittown=Lindy..
Levittown is probably the easiest to compare to most middle class Suffolk towns.

As for Mineola and Copiague, they both have similar racial demographics. Similar median household income. Both have very urban downtowns (by long island standards).

The only major difference is that copiague has the coast and mineola is inland and has a somewhat better school district...

I'm really not that much aware of the North Shore so my comparions are probably worse for up there.

I was wondering if Westbury would be a good equivalent to Central Islip. Central Islip seems to have a noticeably higher amount of crime than Westbury but other than that they have a lot in common.

Both have very diverse racial and income demographics.
Both are in-land
Both have LIRR stop.
Both have crappy and nice parts.
