Being the highest-paid police department in the USA, enough!
Sorry, but they're nowhere close to being the highest paid police department in the country. Several of the village departments on Long Island pay their police officers more.
I thought the hiring of the 2 new deputies by Dale while they were laying off was at odds with cutting costs, but if these 3 PD's are any indication of the internal problems then hiring an ex-FBI and NYPD Deputy is a real step in the right direction. Additionally, the internal affairs investigation was misdirected to Hunter, Dale has directed that internal affairs reports directly to him, another change for the better.
Why someone making $200K per year would jeopardize their career with a few $100 gift cards is beyond me and appears to speak to a more pervasive problem, if this is happening at the top, what would you expect from the erest of the force.
By the way, so much for the philosophy that paying people more puts them above accepting bribes.

It's more prevalent at the top.. Within high rank... some think entitlement comes along with it Do what I say not what I do.. I'm not condoning at all, should be one set of rules across the board but unfortunately it's not always like that.

I would expect that in any organization corruption at the top gives license to those at the bottom to mimic their behavior. If those at the top don't set a good example then you have no organization.

There are crooks in every profession. I could re-write your second paragraph to say, "Why someone making a million dollars a year on Wall Street would jeopardize his career with insider trading is beyond me..."
I once worked at a place where three editors got fired after cutting a check for $600 to a "freelancer" who was actually the 7-year-old daughter of one of them. They blew a collective 25 years of service and jobs they had for no less than 7 years each for $200 apiece.
Granted, one would like to think those in sworn positions would be a little more trustworthy, but human nature is what it is, and you will find dishonest people in every career path.

You would expect that but the opposite happens.....they will crush a PO for petty stuff but slap a wrist of a high ranking officer
I am related to a few cops and some civilian employees of the NCPD. I hear things...
So you're able to conclude that most cops are "dirty" because you happen to be related to cops/employees who tell stories. Yeah.
