There was another one in Queens as well. I think it was at Lefferts Blvd & Jamaica Ave?
Myrtle Ave and Jamica (or was it hillside ?) in Richmam Hill (Under the Railroad Trestle next to the movie theater)
It had a Worlitzer player piano with horns and drums
I've been to two Jahn's in my life. The first one was in the Bronx on Kingsbridge Road near Fordham Road.... I guess you can tell how long ago that was. The second was On Hillside Ave where it met Myrtle & Jamaica Ave. That one may still be there actually.
Aha! Thanks for that info. I can't believe it's still there! I can't even imagine what the neighborhood looks like around there now.
Given a choice for ice cream in Queens, I don't think there is anyplace better than Eddies Sweet Shoppe on Metropolitan Avenue. Their homemade whipped cream is to die for!!!

I knew that one too! I used to live on Woodhaven Blvd. I think Eddie's might still be there.

It WAS there last summer when we went up to visit, and I'm assuming it's still there. It's now being run by the ?third? generation. I remember grandpa being there, I guess he was the original owner...then dad, and now the son who is probably in his late 20's - early 30's.
LOVE their black & white ice cream sodas and chocolate egg creams. It's funny that people in other parts of the country don't know what these things are that we've taken for granted.
Too bad there aren't many more of these family run shops around anymore. They are the best!
