Hello
My husband and I are trying to move to garden city from Suffolk county. My son is currently in daycare/preschool setting 3 days a week from 830-530
I haven't been able to find much in gc besides adelphi which has a very long waiting list that we are on. Can anyone offer suggestions?
I appreciate any advice you can offer thanks a bunch!

There's a Tutor Time in New Hyde Park, on Jericho Tpke just east of New Hyde Park Road....to be honest in all the time I lived in GC (13 years) I only met one person who used daycare, the rest used nannies. And the one person I met used that Tutor Time.

Thank you for the response, that must be why it's impossible to find any in garden city!
I've heard bad things about the chains so I was hoping to stay away from them, like all the teachers are young kids, dirty etc. Thats why my son is in a small private daycare in smithtown. I was hoping to find something similar in gc or surrounding area. I appreciate your help!

We use Tutor Time for both kids and love it!!! Most of the teachers have degrees in elementary ed and it is very clean and education based.

Tutor Times vary by location.

I do know someone who had her child in a home daycare years ago....those situations are going to be hard to find before moving, I think.

Special Treasures in Malverne, perhaps, if they are still there?

I worked in a tutortime from 1996-2001. DO NOT use them. The teachers are young. You can be a head teacher at age 21 but you usually start off as an assistant first. I was 25 when I worked there. The assistants are at least 18 years old. One of the tutortimes I worked in was shut down for dept of health violations in mineola. I would stick with a private daycare or one affiliated with a church or YMCA IMO, or an in home daycare. But as someone else said each tutortime is individually run and owned. Unfortunatley the 2 I worked for were so so and the directors were terrible.

Tutor Time is fine. Scope it out and use your judgment. We and a dozen of families have been friends for years since our kids started together and they still go there on school holidays and break weeks. All the kids who went were taken well care of, socialized well when they got to public school KG and had no issues. No place is perfect and there is a balance of high turnover and steady people who have been there for a long time. Ours is the Levittown location. I'm generally critical of things but Tutor Time served us and friends very well.
