I'm moving to LI and working in the City. Moving from the Philly Area. I've read the mixed reviews of West Babylon and would like some advice.

My family really likes the south of Merrick Rd Areas from Merrick to Babylon. Excluding a few towns. Merrick is too pricey, I've narrowed it to Seaford or Baylon. We may push the search a bit East if neccesary.

We found a beach community in Babylon Village, Fred Shores, that fits the bill nicely. I can buy more house in this neighborhood than in a south seaford neighborhood. The rub is it is zoned to West Babylon Schools instead of village schools (but still pay village taxes ). I suspect that may be why the pricing is less than comparable village or seaford homes.

We love the neighborhood, walk to the beach, nice houses, etc. If you were in my shoes, would you move ahead and buy in Fred Shores?

Fred. Shores is very beautiful and if we could afford I would probably buy there. We are actually buying a home in Lindenhurst but I currently live in West Babylon south of montauk hwy and its really beautiful. You are close to Main Street in Babylon village, close to the the beaches, the golf course and Argyle Park. I have also heard mixed reviews about both West Babylon and Lindenhurst SDs. I know many people that went through both and had great experiences. A good web site is greatschool.com. Good Luck!

I live in Babylon Village and I would definitely tell you that it is a wonderful place to raise a family and it is good that you will have village amenities such as the pool and all) . I have lots of friends who actually prefer the West Babylon schools for myriad reasons ; this is not true of the Lindenhurst or Copaigue schools, though.
