Dark coloured vinyl siding is generally more expensive than light coloured siding because of the vinyl formulation that is required (the ability to withstand solar heat absorbtion). Therefore, most houses on Long Island are light coloured and a darker house might be too garish for some.

I'd like your opinions about what a nicely painted Queen Anne Victorian colours might be.

We are thinking of a main colour similar to Behr's "Winter Lake" for the main colour on the first and second floor exterior: BEHR Ultra 8 Oz. Winter Lake Interior/Exterior Paint Tester # 550F-5 550F-5U at The Home Depot

Then, for the attic gables, we're thinking of something similar to Behr's "Wickerware":
[I'd post a link but, online, Wickerware 360C-2 looks too tan-ish when it's actually a soft yellow like:
Light Chrome Yellow Polychromos Pastel Paints - 106 - Light Chrome Yellow Paint, Light Chrome Yellow Color, Faber Castell Polychromos Paint, FFF450 - Art-Paints.com

The main trim colour we are thinking of using is an off-white/antique white , something not at all shiny, for the fascia, porch columns, balustrade, vertical corner trimboards, and window casings.

The accent trim colours (of about an 2" or less in width) encircling the porch spindles and window sash might be a very dark maroon and dark green.

What do you think?

OhBeeHave, that first house is so what we're thinking! Plz. advise the http addy so I may save to flashdrive.

We haven't been able to find anything other than PermaCast post wraps. PermaCast can't be painted with any colour darker than L 56 on the 0 to 100 scale. That's why we have to have white columns. So, if one replaces the red with white in that first pic. then one would have our tentative colour scheme.

We are just hoping it wouldn't be too much for our neighbourhood of whites, tans, beiges, and light blues.

This might be close to the "Winterlake" colour.

It's a Queen Anne and has to be done right. Damn the torpedoes! Full color ahead!

I have a neighbor who has a fauxfarmlonialtorian and they opted for muted (Crest wintergreen toothpaste) green and lavender with white. It's heinous. They wanted to 'blend'. Don't settle for blending. Do the right thing.
