Can anyone suggest a self storage facility in the Mineola area? We would like to rent a small unit at one of the places that has decent security. I know they are around, but perhaps someone here could throw out a recommendation.

Thanks.

Try the Uhaul place on the south side of Jericho, just east of New Hyde Park Road. I bought a ton of moving supplies there. There is always someone in the office and my sister uses them for storage and has had no issues. Believe it or not people use those storage cubes as office space as well.

Thanks...and wow that is kind of funny, but I guess it's a fairly cheap alternative to office space!

Earlier this year we scanned all the local places for storage units and found the one on Stewart Avenue in Garden city, Public Storage to be the best price. They had a $1 for the first month (plus a $22 admin fee) It was not a come on, it was true. The first month was just $23 total. The only surprise we had and I have been told by a few others that it is pretty standard was that we moved our stuff in on the 17th, I thought our rent was month to month with the rent due after the month was up. (i.e say on the 16th of the month, every month.) However, the first bill was due on the 1st of the month for only the prorated portion and then, there after the full bill. It still worked out the same $$ wise but I was surprised and they explained that is so all are on the same billing cycle. It was clean and fairly well lit, and the only negative I can say is that because the carts have been stolen you have to leave your license and they give you a key to open the carts which are locked with a padlock and chain. It is just tiny bit of a pain to have to get out of the car go inside to surrender your license and get the key only to come back to the carts to unlock them and then having to reverse the process after unloading.
