Beachtree Care in East Islip? We love that place and it is much better than the restaurants you mentioned. The upstairs dining area is a bit more formal than downstairs. The food is good and prices reasonable. Good breakfasts. Good lobster specials. Crab legs too.
The Beachtree is great, used to be excellent but still pretty good. Never had a bad meal there.
I have never been there. I saw it on their website and it looks nice. But then I second thought the pictures and thought maybe it had an IHOP feel to it.
I am looking for a place to go for my birthday and I will have my nephews with me. I am going to be daring and try something new. It is BeechTree or HOulihans.
Beachtree was always our "go to" place. That is why I suggested it. But we haven't been there in a few months. Just read some reviews online that say there has been a significant decline in the last few months. That makes me sad, if that is true, because it was always great before. The owners of Beachtree also have several other restaurants that all continue to get 4+ star reviews today. They are Prime, H2O and also Monsoon (their only Asian restaurant). They may have others as well, but as I said, these three are rated very highly. One is in Huntington, another in Babylon and another in Smithtown, I think?
Haven't eaten there in years. The place was always good when we did go. The feel of the place is more of a TGIF nice dining area with a large bar. We had a few private parties upstairs. They have been running a lot of it buy 1 get 1 offers in the papers, I guess like most places they are hurting for buisness.
Always loved Beachtree though I haven't been in years. Me and the wife would go to the one in Smithtown (long gone) and drink at the bar when we were under age.
I took my mom to the Islip location a few years ago for lunch and it was still good.
IIRC they also had a North Babylon location on DPA that is now a Panera. I only went to that one twice, the East Islip location is the one me and my family mainly go to.
Thanks for the info everybody.
I went there this evening. The food was good. I liked the atmosphere. Very reasonably priced.
Little surprised that the baked clam appetizer was only three clams.
That is what I have heard- that you do not get as much bang for your buck anymore, which is a direct result of the economy. Less people are eating out on a regular basis, so restaurants are not getting the business they used to, and yet ingredients cost more now, so costs need to be cut somewhere to keep the restaurant alive. At the Beachtree, this is reflected by smaller portions. I am just glad that Beachtree is still standing when so many other restaurants have gone under. Glad to hear that you liked the place and that the food was still good.
