Now that we are receiving our new tax bills, I thought it might be interesting (and possibly depressing) to post % of property tax increase from the prior year. Please mention school district , township and the increase
I will start : Commack SD Huntington Township 3.7%
Nassau county will be released on jan 1. Rejoice in this years increase because in the 2014 notice we will be absorbing, at least in part, what the county still needs to take into the tax pot vs. what the totally destroyed homes, who have no services i.e sewer, garbage etc. will not be required to pay. Guess who pays the diff?
Yup, the problem isn't so much this year's increase, it's going to be the recurring, non-stop increases that will hammer LI well into the future. Without any signs of significant and permanent spending cuts and without any regard for the taxpayers or the local economy whatsoever, it's an economic nightmare.
Good Luck LI.
