I remember following this story way back when. It's great that she seems to have built a solid life for herself.

Katie Beers tells her story 20 years after kidnapping

I remember this so well and also that Suffolk DA James Catterson and Robert Green who was the chief of Newsday agreed to shelter her from any publicity so that she could heal in peace.

Too bad the Robert Greens of the world don't exist any more. Just look at the Sandy Hook publicity.

The foster parents should be saints. They gave her a life. Very sad but then inspiring story.

I wholeheartedly agree with all of the above. I was happy to know that she is ok. What a horror story she had. God Bless her, may she continue to do well and enjoy her life.

I completely forgot about this, glad things worked out for her, imagine if this happened today with media being a bit different to say the least. It brings to mind Elizabeth Smart the girl who was kidnapped in Utah, the parents took her on the talk show circuit.

Im in the middle of reading her book "Buried Memories". Excellent book so far.

I find it hard to believe that people exist...even for Mastic Beach...that could treat a child so bad. Aside from the sexual abuse, she endured terrible neglect her entire life living with those fine examples of trash.

What do you mean "even for Mastic Beach"?

Looks like she got hooked up with an East Hampton (rich?) foster family after her ordeal.

Good for her, what she went through you wouldn't wish on your worst enemy.

Rich?...I doubt it...the foster father was a SC deputy sheriff...guess I will find out more about them later in the book.
