From time to time I get these calls asking for money for the Policemen’s Benevolent Association(PBA). When I decline, I'm given the reason why I should reconsider. One reason was that the funds go to widows of fallen officers. I was surprised, aren't police officers insured? Suffolk police are highly paid and are doing quite well (even by Long Island standards), especially compared to those in the private sector.
These calls are rather annoying and, I believe, unnecessary. Any thoughts?

Don't you have caller i.d.? And if you don't and you take the call, why do you stay on the line? You can just hang up you know.

The ID comes in as a number, to which I thought it was a business related call and answered it. And I did hang up, after I politely declined.

They are a scam. Local PBA 's don't solicit over the phone.

Your previous post make it clear that your a cop hater. from the problems you've described about your distressed upbringing and home life to your current statements its always the cops fault. All someone has to do is go back and read your post to confirm this. I bet your ex was a cop. The P.B.A. doesn't solicit donations. Why don't you try something different and the next time you need police assistance call citi data instead? Oh I guess the cops down in N.C. suck too?

I tell them to send me some literature to read and then I will decide on a donation. That usually shuts them up.

Except for the one time when the guy got all angry and challenged me to why I did not want to support the local police. That is when I hung up on him.

Thank goodness for the no call list. Haven't heard from them since that came in to being.

Tell them they've reached Baskin Robbins and ask them to name all 31 flavours.
