I have been looking to unload my Waverunner since I don't really use it too much anymore. I can probably $2-$3K for it and with maybe another $1K out of pocket, I can get a decent pre-owned 4x4 Utility ATV with plow. I'm seriously considering it.
Those are great for medium sized driveways. You'll want to be sure to wear goggles and a balaclava because snow will kick back in your face, We have a full sized plow set up as our driveway is too big for the atv set up.
Hubby left for work at 7:15 am, it looked ok out. At 8:15 am it looked worse. I got out the snow blower and did from the garage to the street which is very long maybe 25-30 ft. long. Went in the house grabbed my stuff and headed to my job at Subway. I open so my boss said I could come in at 9:30 am instead of 8 am. Anyone want to join me and go to a warmer climate with no snow? LOL
AWD is very good, but IMO, not as good as 4x4. For the vehicles that have full-time AWD, you're using it usually when you don't need it, and that hurts gas mileage. Some AWD systems only kick in when your tires begin to spin - I just don't trust them. In my truck, it's normally 2wd with traction control and then I can switch it to 4-high or 4-low as needed. I don't even think my truck has ever been in 4-low LoL.
Of course, this is all a moot point, because a truck isn't practical for everybody, so for the most part, your AWD will be just fine. The one thing you want to be sure of when reversing in an AWD sedan or car, is to make sure that your tailpipe didn't get stuffed with snow. The carbon monoxide can get blocked and back up into the vehicle compartment.
If you don't want to get stuck get Bridgestone Blizzaks with AWD, have never got stuck even with two feet of snow.
In a snowy area (ok this year here is an anomoly), I would agree, but otherwise I wouldn't want to deal with swapping tires twice a year and also having to store the extra set. That's for the birds (or people stuck with summer "performance" tires from the dealer).

Ground clearance on a sports car... ?
I assume you never rotate your tires?
I can swap out all the tires & check the pressure in less than 30 min....its even easier than changing the motor oil myself.
I have the Bridgestone Blizzaks on my Audi. AMAZING tires. And you can run them year round if you want since they are technically considered a performance snow tire. I used to swap mine out every year and I actually kept a second set of rims so i wouldn't have to go through the hassle of having my wheels rebalanced.
One spring I was late taking my Blizzaks off and frankly I noticed zero difference in dry weather handling between my Blizzaks and my regular summer tires. So I go year round with the Blizzaks.
My Audi with AWD is unstoppable in the snow with these tires.
